Badia apartment — historic palazzo stay in Trapani, Sicily

Inside a prestigious 16th-century palazzo, Badia is a recently restored 155 sqm residence reached directly by a large lift. Contemporary works of art sit alongside historical detail and mid-century design in the heart of the old town.

You arrive into a bright dining room: a small table by Ico Parisi, elegant consoles by Carlo Enrico Rava, walls returned to their original finish, and the coffered vaulted ceiling typical of Trapani, decorated in tempera. The original cement-tile floor runs throughout.

The steel island kitchen is fully equipped. Beyond the dining room, the living room gathers armchairs around the sculptural Lunario table by Cini Boeri.

Badia was originally conceived as a one-bedroom residence, and this is still reflected in the layout. The main bedroom is particularly spacious, with a double bed, a chaise longue and a marble fireplace topped by a work by Italian artist Valerio Nicolai. A second double bedroom, furnished in a Venetian Baroque style, allows the apartment to accommodate up to four guests.

For four guests, it is possible to arrange everyone in the large main bedroom. If both bedrooms are used, guests staying in the main bedroom need to pass through the second bedroom to reach the bathroom. For this reason, Badia is especially well suited to a couple, or to families and groups of four who are comfortable with a more intimate layout.

The bathroom is finely decorated, with a generous shower. All the lighting, like the art, comes from the family collection.
